Default Cold Air Intake?

Hi Everyone, I am thinking about installing a cold air intake on my '05 Silverado 2500HD 6.0. I was looking at the 57 Series FIPK from K&N - they claim it increases 20hp. Is this true? Will I increase fuel economy with cold air intake? Is the power difference noticeable? Any advice you can offer is appreciated! Thanks!

I dont know about the 6.0 but i do know that in my 5.3 that i have now, my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee and in my older 5.7 silverado they all gained a lot of power and in the older 5.7 the fuel economy and power increased the most. I would recomend getting one to anybody. They are awomse.

Thanks for the advice. Everything I've read seems to point in the direction of installing one. Now the decision is which to install. I'm considering both the K&N mentioned previously and the Volant. What makes the Volant cost so much more? What do they sound like? Turbo-ish?

I went with the volant with the ram air scoop and a transdapt tbs. Mine does whistle a little and its kept my gas mileage the same as stock when i went up on the tire size on my truck.

I have the volant as well without the ram air, and most say it sounds kinds liketornado. When I first got my exhaust, it was a little annoing to hear both at certain speeds, but now it isn't. The CAI is loudest from 1800-2400 rpm when you are on it, but not when cruising. Also the Volant is a completely sealed unit which I like.

Gotcha... thanks for the input. I just found a deal to buy an AirMax CAI and get a free Helix Throttle Body Spacer (http://wheelskin.com/cold-air-intake-systems.html). Any experience with AirMax? It seems like a pretty good deal. What does the Throttle Body Spacer do for performance?

Not familiar with that intake, but the spacer will give quicker throttle response, a little more power, and a little better milage. definately worth having.
