a couple quick questions
On my '03 Silverado, lately i been noticing the best way to describe the noise is like a rubbing noise, when i turn the steering wheel, especially wheres its been cold, and when i first start the truck in the mornings. Its not continuous, just first thing when i start the truck cold. Is there any grease fittings or something that might need greasing? I don't believe its the Int. shaft, that would be a clunking noise, right, and it would come from under the hood? This noise is down inside or under the steering column. Or maybe its just sick n tired of winter like i am.... Also, Tire pressure. I have LT265x75x16's for tires, and lately have noticed my tires look a bit low in air. I know it says on the tire Maximum COLD 45 PSI. Not what is considered cold? I drove the truck for 15 minutes or so, stopped to put air in. I put in about 35 Lbs PSI. Is that sufficient? I never quite understood the cold/warm air pressure ratings. I usually put about 35 lbs in them. I don't have a garage or compressor to do it myself, and i'm not paying to have a garage do it. Just wondering... Thanx, Jim

RE: a couple quick questions
Yeah your good on pressure. I'd say wait til it warms up and see if it still does it. Then when the weather breaks, hit all the grease fittings up under the truck with good grease.
I did this religiously with my 91 and besides the occasional idle arm needing replaced (frequent problem for that year) I had never replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, any u-joints (with zerk fittings anyway), etc... in all the years I had it.

RE: a couple quick questions
If you think it is the column check the trim around the steering wheel and make sure that it is not loose. Then if that checks out, take the steering wheel and move it up and down like you are trying to rip it off. The bearings in the column might be worn out.
