Dex-Cool versus something else ? what to use ?
Folks,
I read in one of the notes in here that from 88-98 dex-Cool is probably not a good idea to use as the gaskets leak. What should I use for my 89 k1500.
It's a totally new engine that I am installing and would like to use the right stuff. Any comments ?
Thanks

Dex-cool is for the aluminum motors. Dont need it for iron blocks. I have the green stuff in my 2001 5.3L. I had the red stuff in there for bout 5 years, Changed it out every 6 months. It tended to build up some clumps in the system and sit down at the bottom of the radiator. So I switched to green and not a problem since.
