Can you put True dual exhaust on a 2005 chevy silverado?

 

I have a 2004 2500HD and have had true dual exhaust installed on it. I even put the Edelbrock headers and everything seems to work fine. It consists of (3" everything) Edelbrock headers to my stock dual cats to Flowmaster mufflers to tailpipes. I have not had it dynoed yet but look forward to it. My only advice to you is to ensure that the welder does a good job and to ensure the spare does not rub.

The muffer shop that i talked to said that if i put true dual exhaust on my truck that it would mess up the computer and start to make it run bad. And onther shop said you can put true dual on any make of truck that was made after the 70s, becasue there is no room for it. So they said i would have to put single in double out flowmasters on it. Is this my only option?

 

The exhaust shop that i'm gunna go to didn't say anything about messing up the truck? I"m going to put the dual into a dual in dual out40 series flowmaster. I've never heard about putting duals on messing up the way it runs? Is this true?

 

Now is there a different between true dual and dual with a brand like flowmaster muffer. Or is true dual not just running from the headers straight out the back ordoes it have to have a muffer on it?If this make since? My main question is what are my options for dual exhaust? I live in oklahoma and dont have inspectionsso no laws to follow.

 

Nothin will change if you put a dual exhaust or a single one as long as the sensors stay in place which are the O2 sensors in the catalytic Conv. so dont worry if you have a V8 dual is really awesome but if it was a V6 it wont give you that much of a difference. And hey two in and two out is the best direct flow not a single hp is lost.

To get the most absolute power, run straight pipes with as liitle bed as possible and as short as possible with no cats or mufflers. But it will be loud as hell and you will probably run into issues with a noise ordinance in town with the local police. Your best bet is take out the cats (although the new ones don't take away much HP), run straight pipes to an x-pipe, then to two single in single out flowmaster 40s, then out seperate tail-pipes. This way you get good flow and sound without the ringing in the ears all the time.

 

yea smoke has it right, TRUE DUAL WILL NOT mess up your truck at all. There is room for two mufflers on the passenger side under the bed
