Electrical problem
I have an 05' silverado 5.3 Litre 4x4. Both the 12v accessory outlet and cigarette lighter have quit working. The fuse is fine. I am getting 12 volts to both outlets. However, nothing seems to work anymorewhen I plug ina cell phone charger, portable DVD player, flashlight charger, etc. When I plug the accesories into another vehicle they work fine. I recently plugged in a charger for a portable radio and it ruined the charger. I have checked both outlets with a digital meter and I am getting 12v. I have turned the plugs to ensure connection. The charge light comes on the cell phone charger but the cell phone says "not charging".The interesting part is that my neighbors 02' Silverado and his fathers 06' Silverado also do the same thing. What's up with this? Does anybody have a clue? Anything I plug into these outlets will not work. By the way, the truck just went out of warrantyfour weeks ago.

RE: Electrical problem
make surte the housing is grounded..in other words, make sure the center tip inside is hot...then get on that hot with your + lead and check the housing part to insure its grounded...if you have 12v on the little button inside, and the rest is grounded, then its all good.
caution..its easy to blow a fuse doing that...ALSO..note that you have TWO fuses for the sockets...a Gigar liter fuse, and a pwer aux fuse
