Default engine swap

ok guys. my dad is putting a 383 stroker in his 85 swb chevy and his 350 he had in it before only has about 9000 miles on it. he was talking about giving it to me, but we werent sure if it would be a pain with the computer or not. like if it just plugs in or if i have to get a different one or what. he has all the bells and whistles for it and its a great motor. i was curious if any of you would know how much trouble it would be to swap it out with my 4.3ltr V6, mostly the computer portion. if it just plugs in and is good to go or what. the room wont be a problem because on my 07 LS there is a ton of room from the engine to the front end. any help is greatly appreciated

if the motor is carbed with an hei or msd dist. and you have an auto trans the biggest issue i forsee would be buying a 700r4, full manual valvebody, a tci trans controller unit or do a manual trans swap. im not sure about your truck, but in mine i have a 4l60e trans and the only thing stopping me from the 355 swap is the 800 bucks for the trans controller.
if you are willing to spend the money on bypassing the computer i would go for it
