Exhaust

Exhaust
I just got my first Silverado. I want to go inexpensive but quality. I got the baby 4.8 V8, and I'm not feeling like it has a lot of power, I only have 60K on the motor trans. I'd like to put a dual exhaust to increase a little horsepower and get a little better sound out of my engine. I have looked into flowmaster and magna flow exhaust systems with stainless tips. I've been told along with some horses I will get some gas mileage out of the duals. The concensus I get is that the flowmaster sounds better outside the truck, but resonates too much in the cab where, the magna flow will give a good sound outside the truck and not so much resonation in the cab. Any suggestions or advice on exhaust, horsepower, and gas mileage would be appreciated. email- wehner15@hotmail.com

RE: Exhaust
True dual exaust,, I don't think there being honest with you. You need to call Jim at MagnaFlow(1-800-859-0923) as he is the true Guru of exaust here in Ca. Flowmaster can be reached at (1-800-544-4761) directly. True dual exaust is illegal in Ca and many other states. Now if you have it made, you may not pass smog because the alteration is beyond the scope (that will be their exact words). I had Jim at MagnaFlow hook me up recently with Sam a "Rev2Red," a "TRUE HONEST - THE RIGHT PART NUMBER," seller for my new Free Flowing MagnaFlow Cats with Y pipe. I then had a new 3" pipe ran back to a FLOWMASTER DELTA 40 <- MUCHO HP. The MagnaFlow exaust is 22"long, th Flowmaster Delta 40 is 14" long and the resonance in the cab isn't sht. You will get a better deal IF you just go and have your local MUF shop that carries the Flowmaster Delta 40 build you a Cat back. Compare it to a Cat Back system from either Flowmaster or MagnaFlow - each will cost you, pre made, over $500+. You get it done by a MUF shop, maybe $325. Fact is, you will never see the stanless steel and it WILL discolor within a year. Get your system built by hand at a MUF shop, and spend that extra cash on a GMS MAF (8-12hp).
