i posted some pictures as i know some were curious to see the thing
i will be posting many many more throught the week as ill be working on tearing it down after work and on weekends
the front and rear axles are not at all locked up i think the gearing is 3.73 on the rear as when i spun the tires both of them spun like a posi should
the front axle rolled with no problems off the trailor as well as the rear
i got her on jack stands and the tires off then the drum brakes off
i will be cutting the cab in half to remove from the frame
as the driver side was tboned and its no good
the body mounts are all ready out i jsut need to remove the steering shaft and she will come right out

it still has all the wireing harnesses minus the ones running to the back

Anywho, what I wanted to send was going to show how to cut and gusset the frame. Don't cut straight down, instead make a 45° angle cut. Get everything lined up and tack weld it. Then brace top and bottom so it doesn't pull from the heat when you weld it solid. Bevel the edges so you get full penetration on your welds. Once you get it together add a diamond gusset to buth sides, using something of the same thickness and be sure to grind everything nice and clean before you start.

Your bracing is very important, the heat from the weld is going to make it pull so keep it stiff and check it as you go. Also, let the welds cool normally, don't throw water or give an oil bath, you don't want to temper the steel.


Most of all, measure twice, cut once. Feel free to ask me all the questions you neef.

 

@ dragon i will make sure that i measure twice or as many time as i need then cut what i plan to do is cut from the old frame what i need and weld it up there
