Default Finally got my truck.........

Well, I finally got my truck. I'm picking it up tomorrow night. Its an '03 Silverado E/C 4X4. It has 61,000 miles on it. Its the LS package. The 4.8L V-8, which i concluded the 4.8L will be more than sufficient for my hauling needs. It has a very nice stereo system, i believe its oem, but it lists the artist/ name of song as the songs are playing. Will let ya know if i add any goodies to it, or any suggestions on accessories. I'm thinking vent visors, hood scoops, nerf bars, remote starter maybe, justfor starters.

Yes, I'm already thinking of add ons. Heres my ideas and questions. With the 4.8L, would you recommend a cold air intake kit and if so, which one, and will there be a noticeable difference? I want just a "Take out of box and install" Kit, w/o any mods needed. I also was looking, and kinda found my answer but anyways, the wifes Avalanche with the 5.3L engine has a Gibson side swept cat-back system on it, and she'd swap with me in a heartbeat, for the stock exhaust system from my truck. Her Av sounds SHWEET, and boy oh boy would i love to swap but by the #'s, they're not the same systems. For $350.00, i can get 1 made for the 4.8L, so eventually i will probably do that. Lets hear some feed back with pros and cons on the different cold air intake kits and please be honest. Are they just a gimmick or are they worth the $$$$$ ? My brother has the K&N kit on his 5.2L Grand Cherokee, and he likes it but told me, it allows the engine to breathe better, which creates HP, which in turn, minimizes gas mileage, as he lost about 1 MPG with his, but he has 3" dual exhaust and after market Catalytic converter as well, so maybe thats why. I'd like to do the Gibson catback system and the cold air intake kit eventually. Yes or No ?

In all honesty, intakes are a great way to increase MPG and HP on THESE motors. If you get an intake, my suggestion is that you find one that is sealed off from the rest of the engine bay, so it won't breathe in that hot air. There are many companies that offer these intakes, so take your pick... In my opinion, Volant is probably the best bet.

As far as the MPG loss, it was probably the exhaust... More than likly the cats. 318's love a little backpressure.
