First problem with my new truck

Glad to hear!
Next time try and find your local driveshaft shop. I prefer to buy from them and get Spicer or Neapco joints. There are many places in Michigan that sell southern truck parts and the one I'm most familiar with was up in Davison.

The original U joint was actually a Spicer. I ended up with a $20 Brute Force joint. I guess we'll see how it holds up? They had a Moog joint there for $25-35 but I can't quite remember.
I dunno ... those advanced people had a hard time figuring it out until I finally went home on the third try, took the joint completely out with all of the caps and drove it back to them. I was even tempted to borrow my dad's truck to take the whole axle over there ....
So a Spicer joint is a better one?

Why do you change them so often? I mean, if the joint isn't bad, it isn't bad. Really no point in changing out a perfectly good U joint IMO. Wait until it starts singing, the needles seize up or the joint starts to get play in it.
