RE: fuel filter
Hi all.
I am new to this forum. Is the statment true that 05 Silverado 5.3 has no fuel filter? My mechanic may have been pulling my leg when he sold me a fuel filter. He says it is on the frame railing? I am not able to locate it. Any help would be appreciated. I see my date of manufacture is 09/04 though the dealer called it an 05. So my filter is in the tank right guys? My mechanic friend is being a dick. 05 Silverado,4wd,4door,5.3.
Thanks Ray.

RE: fuel filter
your getting screwed..ask him to show it to you
Thanks Argon. I think this is his idea of a joke. I wasn't having him do the work but I purchased the filter from him. He is my friend, I think this is his idea of a joke or for not hiring him to do the work. I did not want to call him to tell him I could not find it.He may have not had to install one on on 04 yet so he thinks it is in the frame rail. Once he couldn't find it like me he would look it up and find that it is in the tank. What I should do is call him up and tell him I installed it no problems. LOL
I don't know if you can or want to answer a question on my 99 Express 1 ton cargo van? Since I purchased it knew in 99 it has had carpet cleaning equipment installed in it. This equipment is attached to the motor via drive shaft through the fire wall. The van runs at approx 15,000 rpms while in park and cleaning carpet. All these extra hrs on the van engine create extra wear and tear on power steering and brakes and lines. We have replaced power steering lines because they developed leaks. I currently have a leak at what looks to be the top of thesteering boxunder a rubber boot I canlift up. My mechanic says to take it to a front end shop. He says their might be aseal that needs replacing. Have you ever come across any leaks like this? I keep adding power steering fluid and place a drip pan under it. 5.7 99 Chevy ExpressVan. Thanksagain.

RE: fuel filter
those boxes are not really serviceable..you may find some sap willing to do it,but you'll most likely be passed off,as you just were.
a power-steering rebuild type place is the way to go if you can find one..you remove it,they'll seal it..
that,or buy a used one that probably leaks,or go ahead and buy a new one

RE: fuel filter
Thanks for the power steering rebuild place reccomendation. I think it is beyond my skill to remove the box. I will look at it for fun but will most likely have to have it R&R by some one.
I am getting an all electric Yaris that goes a 120 miles on a charge. It will be built and ready in few months. Thought I would tell you, see if you had any comments. Ofcourse I will keep my gas burnners. Thanks again Argon.
