Fuel/oil additives

Fuel/oil additives
Are these okay for our trucks? I've had some cars that said in big letters in the manual : Fuel additives are not recommended.
I'm not looking for one that will give more HP ...just to clean out the innards.
Any recommendations?

I have good results from STP products. I have used them in both my truck and the wife's CTS. The car ran better like promised from the product. I have no idea if there are any better or worse products out there. I have had a few people talk to me about Seafoam. I havn't tryed that yet but my truck will be the guinea pig for that kind of thing.

Is seafoam an additive? I thought it you had to drain all of your fluids and then pump this stuff in, let it sit for 30 minutes and then drain it once it turns to liquid .... Sorry ...too many years and too many beers.
Edit: Found the answer ...it can be used as a fuel additive, but there are other applications ...

I only use seafoam if the injectors were plugged or even almost 30 fill ups later to clean the injectors otherwise it doesnt do anything performance minded really. Ive screwed around with STP jetfuel stuff and it does work good for the price and it does smell good like jet fuel... hehe... Ive also checked out Lucas octane booster and it also work alright like the STP.

BG is good stuff. In both the shops I've worked in, that's all everyone used. I used Seafoam in my Nissan 240SX, and that's GREAT stuff!
What I did was removed the vacuum hose going to the brake booster and poured it in the hose in small increments. It will suck it into the engine and the engine will starting spitting and sputtering and may even stall out if you poor too much too quick. I just dribbled a little bit in ata time. You go through like a 1/2 a can to a full can of it like this and then flood it with the stuff until it stalls out. Let it sit for 5 minutes, reconnect the hose, and then start trying to crank it up. It won't want to start at first but it will start back up and will bog and chug for a few seconds until it get's that stuff worked out of it's system. Then take it for a drive to get all the carbon out of the cylinders. It will smoke like Hiroshima for a few minutes but that stuff works wonders! Cleans the valves, and cylinders better than anything I've heard of. I have been told by some buddies I work with that in cars that have REALLY bad carbon build up you can have problems with big pieces of carbon clogging things up, but I didn't have that problem.
I haven't tried this on my truck yet but I plan to becuase it has that stupid cylinder tick that GM said isn't a problem, but sounds like crap! That should fix that problem for a little while.

I filled up the tank on my 82 buick skyhawk back in college with octane booster and it ran like a sprayed roach! it never really ran the same after that but it was a P.O.S. to begin with!
now i usually use lucas products.
