What is there to say really, I live in SE MI and most of my friends and family work for the auto industry including myself. Its just depressing times up here, in fact my roommate just got laid off from his job today. I guess the company that he works for cut 200 salary jobs this week. Its tough times so we will just have to wait it out and see what happens.

You can blame it onA TONof things but until things get straightened out it doesnt matter too much. What can ya do?

Both of my parents work in the mold industry which relies heavily on GM. I am lucky enough to be in the Golf course side of things. Where abouts in SE Michigan are you.

I'm from Grand Rapids

Ilive over in Auburn Hills. But I go to school at Kettering University which is the former General Motors Institute. So yeah heavy ties with the auto industry.

Luckily the company that I work for does a lot of business with the European makers so we are not feeling it as bad but we still are. We are pretty big and stable so I am hoping to weather the storm.

Actually my dad used to work at Delta Tool and Die which is right on the hill above the Palace of Auburn Hills. Small world huh.

So I was watching the Michigan and Michigan State games today and noticed something.

On every time out there was at least one commercial for a different branch of GM

Ok it costs a friggin ton to air a commercial in the first place, and to air them during NCAA football seems absurd if you ask me. Right now they should be cutting spending wherever they can without upsetting the s and I'm not seeing it here

Yeah but they are also trying to sell cars. Its hard to say how much the commercials actually do for them but probably not enough. They have decreased their advertising budget a ton tho. For one I know that they are not sposoring a lot of the award shows that they used to and they have cut back in other areas as well, I guess just not college football.
