Default GM Part Numbers?

I have a 04' Silverado that came with a 7 pin towing wiring harness. I bought the truck used, but the manual said that the truck was supposed to come with an adapter to make it a standard 4 pin plug. Does anyone know how to find the part number for this adapter?

It would probably be easier and cheaper to try an RV type store, maybe even walmart, and buy the adapter there. It would have originally be taped with the brake controller harness. I had a look at mine but couldn't find a part # anywhere on it.Good luck

No offense at all but really that would be stupid since you certainly can get an adapter from walmart for super cheap. My dad and I both have GMC Sierras. Mine is an 03 and his is a 00. Both of our trucks came with the 7 pin outlet. We both pull trailers with our trucks and we both bought the adapters from Wal-mart and have had no problems in the least.

Part number is 12496599. GM's suggested retail price is $18.00
