GMC Won't Start

GMC Won't Start
I have a 1991 GMC K2500 with a 350 and 190,000 miles. Over the last week or so in the mornings and evenings the truck has not started as fast as it normally does. It would spin over for 5 or 6 seconds and finally start. This morning it wouldn't start at all.
A friend said it could be a cracked distributor cap since the problem was happening in the mornings and evenings when there was more moisture in the air. After work the truck did start up but I replaced the cap and rotor button anyway. It ran fine after that until I drove to a store and when I returned it wouldn't start again.
Spraying starting fliud into the throttle body makes it come to life for a few seconds so I now think I have a fuel delivery problem.
The easy thing to try will be the fuel filter but since it runs fine some of the time I doubt that is the problem. When I turn the key on I can't hear the fuel pump pressurizing so that could be the problem. I understand there is a fuel pressure regulator somewhere in the system and maybe a fuel pump relay but I don't know where they are or how to check them.
If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

RE: GMC Won't Start
fuel pump - I had one go out just like that .Worked fine one minute , then the next it didn't. Somehow I made it back 20 miles to a garage . They measured the pressure at 53 - they were amazed it even ran . The pump was like $400 and the labor set me back another $150 .
