Default got a new trans filter gonna change on my day off

well soon im gonna be dropping the pan on my trans im gonna check the filter for metal shavings and inspect the trans what i can see of it while the pans off
just baught the filter for it today came with the gaskets needed
just gotta wait till payday to get the trans fluid
then if i find any metal shavings or brownish burnt color looking trans fluid i guess im gonna break down and have my trans rebuilt hope this isnt the case but it probably is as the overdrive wont shift from 3-4 sliping bad
drive is fine for know but if od is out soon drive then after that reverse

When you change your fluid check out a product called prolong.

this stuff works wonders its like a super lube. i use it in my oil and my tranny and never had a problem. and if your car is under 100,000 miles and less than 10 years old and you have that stuff in your oil or transmission and it fails due to a lubrication problem they will replace your whole engine or transmission for free.

to me if you can offer a guarantee like that it will work just as good in an older vehicle.

i couldnt find prolong anywhere i looked today
and i took of the pan to change my filter today
fluid was ok but smelt similar to 80/90 wieght oil but it was the proper fluid
so i took off my old filter to further inspect
found absolutly 100% no metal shavings in the pan or the filter
i even took a magnet and ran it thru the old atf nothing was picked up
and there was nothing on the magnet of the pan
also one thing that really really pissed me off was when i went to loosen the trans pan bolts i didnt even need a ratchet or socket all the bolts minus 2 were finger tight
i gues that would explain the fluid on the bottom of my truck
so i got the new gasket on put some high temp black silicone rtv on it to help it stay on when i put it on yes i made sure to evenly distribute the sealant along the whole seal so it sealed level and had no leaks

and then put the pan back on properly torqued the bolts
started my truck let it get to operating temp poured the fluid in the trans and then cycled thru my gears it shifts like a brand new trans know

my worst nightmare didnt come true yay

i used lucas semisynthetic atf
