Default gutting cats

hey i got a '99 serria 4.8L. i through away the muffler and gutted my cats. now my engine light is always on. is it true that gutting the cats don't effect the performance, it just turns on the check engine light to let you know their is a problem with the converters?

its probably tripping an improper o2 reading from gutting the cats.

yea, Im pretty sure you could get some O2 simulators to "fix" the light code.

you lost some torque when you did that exhaust job, I bet, didnt you?

no doubt about the tourque loss. plus i'm pretty sure we covered this a while back but just as a reminder, the law and PETA really frown on gutting cats. they are naturally lazy animals and the proformance gain from gutting them is suprisingly negative!
