Help with bucking and shaking truck
#21
I Anyways, I work at a high school and the shop teacher hooked up my truck to their scanner, even thoough the scanner didn't recognize my truck it still threw 2 codes. as you know my truck is a 2000 silverado 2500 6l vortec. The scanner didn't find my truck but the closest it came was a 2001. Is this reliable? I think the codes that were thrown were for both banks. I will find out from him what codes were thrown and post them, thanks.

Transmission filter
Just a thought here, would my truck shake if my transmission filter has never been changed? My friend suggested that I change it when I told him what my truck is doing? Thanks.

Tread Lightly when you talk about a filter that has never been changed. Sometimes changing one will cause more problems than its worth. But pulling the pan will tell you TONS about the condition of your transmission.

When I pull my pan, what should I be looking for, filings, colour of the tranny fluid etc? It also sounds like I shouldn't pull my filter, why? I am just curious is all, thanks for your help again.

When you pull the pan drain all but about 1/4 inch of fluid out of the pan, you are looking for Filings, greyish "sludge", bits of metal ect. Color of the fluid is important too but only part of it. If you snap some pics and post them I can help you diag it a little better.

distributor gear
IT probably is a worn distributor gear. mine was worn down to knife blade thickness the truck was fine when under power or slowing down but buck when cruise was on or driving between giving it gas and slowing down. Changed the gear and it was fine for about 1500 kilometers and then started to but again, pulled the distibutor and the gear is worn again, quess the cam gear is worn
