Would this be a good way to go as far as tuning? I'm going to do a tune up with iridium plugs and performance wires prior to programming.

Your truck should already have iridium plugs in it stock. As far as the tuning goes, almost everyone on here agrees that the best way to go is to have it custom tuned by a shop rather than buying a do it yourself programmer. Apparantly the shops can get more out of it than a programmer can. A few people on here have chosen Wheatley Tuning. I am gonna get mine done locally as soon as I can afford it. A lot of speed shops do custom tuning so I'd check around first.

The problem with things around here is that I'm in the boonies. I have to drive at least an hour to find a performance shop, but I guess a man has to do what a man has to do.

Thanks.

Well Charlie Wheatley's site is www.gowheatley.com . I had problems with him responding to my e-mail but several guys on here have recently done a group buy from him. Just go to his site and send him an e-mail telling him what you want. I think the price was like $275 for a custom tune + core charge if he sends you an ECU instead of you sending him yours.

It's $225.00 + core. Core charge for my truck was $150.

How does he work out the core charge? Does he just send you a check after he receives your old ECU or does he return it to your card?

I think you probably have to send him your ECU and he tunes it and sends it back to you.
