It is running rich and at times RPM does bounce around. While it runs rich (by smell) consistently I assume this is because the person before me removed the converters in the y-pipe. Once again if I knew more on Chevrolet fuel trims I would be farther ahead. At idle with my code reader fuel trims looks normal and o2's seem to be fine for narrowband sensors.

The RPM bounce is not consistent and usually only happens when the problem shows up. This evening I am going to check for vaccuum leaks at the intake manifold, and check and pull/clean the EGR. I did check for vaccuum leaks at the FPR everything was good there.

I'm a bit leary about agreeing that removing the cats and exhaust mod will cause it to run rich. Whereas a bad EGR will definitely make it run rich.

^^^ Totally agree. I did check for vaccuum leaks last night around the intake mani and TB, didn't find any. Had some other things come up so didn't get to pull the EGR valve that will probably be tonight. Also my OEM fuel pump should be here today, and if so that will definatley be going in. Will report back with findings later.

Thanks

Ok so fuel pump is in. It does seem to run better but maybe its in my head have to give it a day or two to see if the problem has went away. Now onto the EGR there isn't one on my truck. A quick check online at Autozone says it should have one, but there is no unhooked lines, everything looks factory and untampered. So the next thought that came to mind was maybe this is a flex fuel engine, looked around and nothing that says flex fuel or indicates otherwise. But then in 2002 flex fuel was in its beginning stages and it seems doubtful that this one is. So how would I find out one if there should be a EGR and second if it is indeed a flex fuel engine?

It shouldn't be a flex fuel but it definitely has an egr. Now to the real fun of where it went to. Let me see if I can find a pic of it's location to post.

Can't find a photo but it should be on the left side valve cover with a tube running to the exhaust manifold.

Ok so problem still exists. The images I found show a EGR on the right valve cover by the oil fill. Nothing there, not even anything that looks as if it has been removed. So IDK on that subject.

Now I have been reading and this maybe a problem with the passlock 2 system. And sort of makes sense seeing how there is no specific situation when the problem occurs. Everything I read says that the security light will flash while cranking, which mine doesn't. But, everytime you open the door the light does flash until you turn the key. I did try the relearn procedure with no success. I am thinking of picking up a adjustable potienmeter a lying to the passlock system.

Unless there are some other suggestions??

When your watching live data on your code reader, does your TPS sensor voltage bounce or is it smooth when throttle is pressed or depressed?
