In_Line Fuel Pump Tester

In_Line Fuel Pump Tester
89 K_2500, 5.7L, gas. Anybody have a supplier for a fuel pump pressure tester? Was gonna make one from fittings and a pressure gauge, but the fitting that mates with the TB is something special. Info on where to get fittings or an entire tester would be appreciated.

Ordered the fitting from Actron today. Not gonna ship till 10/04, so will have to wait a bit. The ECM is setting a code 44. Anxious to see how much pressure the fuel pump is making..........it has good flow to atmosphere (into a coffee can), but from some of the books I've been reading, a weak pump could be the problem.
I'm having fun troubleshooting this pickup, and learning a lot......will report further when fuel pump testing is complete.

Yeah check that fuel psi, also vacum leaks will throw a lean code. A stcuk open EGR valve can make it run lean. Ive heard of vacum line to the heater valve can cause a lean code.

Yup!......Got the in-line-fuel-pressure-fitting a couple days ago.......Pump is putting out 4 psi........Shop Manual specifies 9-13..........Aargh!
I think the bed is welded to the frame.....will check tomorrow....has anyone tried putting an in-line external pump in series with the factory pump? This is a farm truck and probably does not go 1K miles per year. Dropping the fuel tank may be a real "bear".

Decided to remove/replace the "in-tank" pump. Twisted off one of the steel tubes coming out of the fuel tank. The other tube is rusted pretty badly also. Am assuming I will have to replace the entire assembly (pump, sending unit, etc.) Are there any good alternatives? Does someone have the GM part number for the entire assembly?

No need to respond to the above question. There is a tag on the old unit with a number on it. Don't know why I did not see it before..........duh......out to lunch!! Hopefully, the new one will go in easier than the old one came out
