I have a 2006 silverado 1500 base truck LS; 4.3L V6, 5 speed, and no A/C. I would like to install an A/C system in it and am wondering what would be the best way to do this. I'm thinking about finding a wrecked Silverado and taking the A/C system off of it.



Pretty much I'm looking for a good place to start. Where can I find more information on how to do this? What parts do I need? What do I need to look while I'm installing this?


From what I've found so far I need:

1. Compressor

2. Condensor

3. Expansion valve

4. Receiver drier

5. Suction, discharge, and liquid line hoses

6. Condenser cooling fan

7. Relays and sensors

8. A/C wiring harness

9. control panel

10. Freon and oil

11. O-rings



Other than time and patience, any other suggestions? Would I be better off with some of these parts new? If used, what should I be looking for?
