Just bought a Dodge........

Just bought a Dodge........
But don't worry, its not mine its for my girlfriend. We finally got rid of the POS Escort. Its a 98 Dodge Intrepid with 140,000 on it, well kept and clean. Base model. One owner with all maintenance records. He always used synthetic and kept the trans and rad flushed. A/C works. A little bit of body rust, very little. It has that problematic 2.7 V6 in it but with the way this thing was maintained I am not too worried about it, besides the damn thing only cost me $1700. Still a deal if you ask me.
Only needs:
1. One wheel bearing
2. 2 window motors
I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Sounds like a great deal. I am not one of those people that will hassle you for getting something else besides a chevy. I will tell you what I think about that perticulare vehicle though. I have always kinda liked the Intrepids becouse there was a girl that was really hot that drove one. I think that she made the vehicle look better that it really was, but every time I see one of them I think of her. It's kinda funny if you ask me. Well good luck with the car. For $1700 you could just turn around and sell it for what you paid for it and what work you have in it, possibly even make a little money off of it. Justa thought incase you don't like the car.

Yeah I feel the same way about eclipse(s). Used to know a really hott girl in highschool drove one. Matter of fact her best friend was smokin and she drove one too. But I can never bring myself to buy one.
I wasn't too keen on the Intrepid, especially because abusing the 2.7 V6 usually leads to it blowing apart. But an older guy owned it and kept up with it. And my girlfriend drives like a grandma. So I think it will be safe. She really needed a good sound car to drive. The escort just needed an excuse to fall apart.

With my girlfriends intrepid: Well I am ahead of the game then cause I was bangin her before she got the car, ha ha!
Yeah the thing is rated at 21-30 and she has been getting roughly 28 so far which is right where she was with the escort anyway.
The 3.3(?) or 3.5(?) can't remember which, the next step up in motor size. Anyway those ones are like rockets but they get terrible gas mileage but you can beat on them pretty good without any problems.

Why are you concerned with the next size up in the motor? You have a good motor as it is and it is getting great fuel mileage, that should be good enuf for her anyways. You should not be driving it that much anyways! Drive your truck and be happy with life, it could be worse, you could be married with children and not be getting any *** but once a month! Us married guys know what I am talking about, it's all about HER mood that night. Be happy with what you have, she doesn't need that big of a motor if she is going to drive like a granny!

Oh well my concern is that like one out of every 10 Intrepids with a 2.7 blew up. Apparently you skimp on the oil changes or you use conventional it clogs up oil passages and the oil pressure drops, somehow the oil pressure controls the timing chain tensioners and your valves go bye bye. The 3.(whatever) does not have this issue. Look online for 2.7 V6 you will find a ton of blogs about the engine blowing up.
But you are right it could be worse.
And I'll take care of the car so it will last awhile I am sure.

Yeh just take car of the car and go from there, if you need to replace the engine then look for the bigger bettere motor. Also can you do a direct swap with the two motors? or will you have to change the tranny and motor mounts and all the wiring harness? Check out the forums on it and see what people have been doing to combat the issue. Good luck!
