K&N air filter

RE: K&N air filter
I have installed a K&N air filter on my 2004 2500HD 6.0L and drove it approx. for 4000 miles before changing the MAF sensor to an aftermarket one. Had now problems and the engine seemed to have better response. I only changed to an after market one to continue the quest for more horsepower.

They come over oiled and normally after cleaning them they get over oiled. All you have to do is clean your MAF by removing it, spray with brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner, let dry and re-install. I usually drive for about a week after oiling then clean just to make sure any oil that is going to go through does and I wont have to clean it again until I clean the filter again. GM does have a TSB about this problem but offers no help other than removing the aftermarket filter and blaming the owner.

not sure if it applies to other vehicles but with my 1990 300zx i dissconnected my battery for about 20 min to reset the cpu. i was told it was supposed to configure the cpu to read the correct intake better. dunno if it really did anything but it didnt hurt anything.
