Default this is kinda wierd any thaughts of why

well today my truck hit 185 miles on the trip meter and im at half a tank of gas
thats definantly not normal for a 94 5.7lv8
but im not complaining cause with the way gas prices are so high im kinda glad its like that
any ideas of why the gas gauge would read that and no the gauge isnt broke or on empty eather
im pretty sure the truck is sposed to get way less gas milage then that
just thaught i would share it and see if anyone gets the same

A lot of the GM trucks get way more miles out of the first 1/2 a tank vs. the 2nd. Hopefully this isn't the case for you, but I wouldn't get to excited.

i will have to agree shamrock my brothers 94 gets better millage on the first half of his tank too and if i get below half it just sucks the gas way down
i hope this aint nothing mechanical
also i will probably be looking at replaceing my distributer cap as the spitting and sputtering is worse on rainy days and when there is more moisture in the air

but runs great when its 100 degres

I generally get 200-225 miles on the first half a tank... then 350 on the entire tank. It did the same thing on my 92, but I got significantly better fuel economy out of the 92

Every truck I and my father have owned; chevy, ford, toyota, dodge... all have gotten better milegae out of the 1st half of the tank versus the 2nd half. The first half is normally larger than the lower or 2nd half. I know it is weird, but fomr what I have seen that is the normal way the tanks are setup.

i just assumed that the bigger tanks had more room to slosh around when they were lower so there was no way to get a good reading
