Leveling 98 K1500

RE: Leveling 98 K1500
I got 3/4" of an inch out of my 91 without killing the ride quality too much. It needed re-aligned afterwards. Nothing broke or wore out. If you want more, get tortion bar key set, it will give you up to 2". Same deal, align afterwards. If you don't align it you'll mess up the outside edge of your front tires and it will feel funky when going into turns.
TIP: Make sure the truck is level first and measure between the tires and fenderwells before you crank 'em up. When adjusting the tortion bars, align ratchet to the cross member and count how many times you go past it. Do the same with the other side. This will keep it fairly even on both sides. Go one to two turns, then measure again. I wouldn't go up to or over an inch if you want it to ride like it did before.

I leveled my 97 K1500. It took 5 turns each side. I jacked both front wheels off the ground to relieve the pressure on the torsion bars. That was a year and 12,000 miles ago. I didn't get an alignment and have noticed no unusual tire wear. I do rotate my tires on time. It rides a bit more stiff, like the old 60's and 70's 4x4 trucks with the front differential and leaf springs. I like it stiff. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the camber can be adjusted anyway. I think all that can be adjusted is toe in, and leveling won't affect that. I used to have a '77 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 4 speed stick. That was a great truck. I was a teen back then and drove it everywhere. It was almost indestructable. Gas mileage sucked. Of course back in the 70's gas was about 45 cents.
