did you notice any difference with your headers? are they shorties or long tubes?

 

Truck is looking good man.

 

I got shorties and I noticed 1 mpg improvement in town and it has a deeper thrust sounding exhaust. I would recommend them.

 

Need some help. I have a 2008 Silverado 4x4 with the ext. cab and long bed. I want to level it and put some fatter tires on. Right now I have 265/70/17 tires on the stock rims. I'm looking at the Rough Country 2" Leveling kit and 295/70/17 tires. Any opinions if I'm choosing the right stuff here?

 

not exactly sure, but i think even with the leveling kit, the 2007 body style trucks will only fit 285/70/17's with the way the fenders are made, but again im not 100% sure

 

Im running a set of Kelly 295/75/16 's on my 2000 chevy silverado. They fit by just cranking the torsion bars, but would rub when I hit a bump turned at full lock. I put a 3" body lift and 1/4 " spacers behind the rim. I dont recommend buying a leveling kit with new torsion keys. The index is way to high and it will wear the front drive axles out faster and makes the angles too steep. Just crank your stock torsion bars and have fun

 

cranking the stock keys (if there are enough threads left) and putting leveling keys on, do the same thing and can cause the same front end issues.

also per my previous post, the 2007 classic body style will allow for 295's with keys, the 2007 new style im not sure of on tire size but they do not have keys, they use spacers.

 

Keys you buy that are billed as "lift keys", "level keys" or leveling kit are all indexed far to much. Cranking the stock keys is not nearly as bad as installing these and cranking them all the way up. A chevy truck, if you crank the stock keys will 'level the truck'. Im not sure whay they even sell indexed keys other than to rip people off. The first thing I do with every truck I get is level it and put bigger tires on it, makes the stance and look of the truck alot better. I put a set of indexed keys on a dodge from belltech and it messed alot of things up because it let the front end get far to high. Just my two cents though

 

Just finished up a 2" Rough Country Leveling Kit. I also replaced the crappy stock Wrangler 265 70 R17 (Shot at 40K miles) tires with Firestone Destination AT 285 70 R17 from Tirerack on my stock 17"x7.5" rims. I was worried about maintaining a factory ride with both modifications. Well, it all turned out fine. The truck looks, handles and feels........BETTER. It takes a minute to get used to stepping in (you'll notice it's a higher step up) and the lack of the "Front Slope". I have backed, turned tightly and made other moves without ANY tire rubbing. If you were thinking about these mods but were worried, worry no more!
