Default a little embarassed

went to my buddies house with my new truck (07 2500hd) and thought it would be funny to roast the tires in front of his ford only problam was it would not do it.with a 6.0 i should have plenty of horsepower there plus i have the 4.11 gears. i know that some of the newer dodge dakota has a limiter on them so you can't powerbrake.does anyone know if gm is doing this or are the rear brakes that good. any info would be great that way i can try to redeem myself

Well, it does have plenty of horsepower and torque, but not where you need it to do a burn out. You need a lot of low end power to do a burn out in your truck. There are some other obstacles in your way as well. For example, you have a very long truck with a very long drive train. It is amazing how much power is loss through the drive train.

I understand yourfrustration first hand, because I as well can not do a burn out in my truck. When I had my 95 Z-71 with the 5.7/350, I had no problem at all roasting the tires even with 35's. I've always loved the 350 because it is a low end torque happy monster.

If you really want to do burnout's with ease, get a supercharger and you'llspray burnt rubber all over your friend'sFord.

There are a few reasons you cannot do a burnout even though the 6.0 makes plenty of power to do so. From the factory GM started putting Torque Management on the 96 and newer vehicles in 03 they started putting way more on to include Abuse mode that will keep you from doing a burnout but saves your drive train and warranty work for them. For most people this is great, the trucks last forever and are under warranty for 100,000 mi. But for people who like to race, even stoplight to stoplight or do the occasional smoke boiling burnout it can be annoying and embarrassing to say the least. The only way to remove this programing is to have your computer custom tuned, while all can be removed from the motor there is separate programming for the tranny and you must be careful how much you remove from a stock tranny because some of it is actually needed. There are many people who can do the custom tunes, with some research and knowing what you want you can find the best deal for you. Good luck and have fun.
