I just bought a 99 silverado 4x4 z71. The message center in the truck does not work. Everything else on the panel works fine and the truck runs excellent. Can anyone tell me if there is a fuse that goes to it or what else I could check. At the moment it's not hurting anything but i would like to have it working just in case of future problems or warnings. I thought it may be a fuse but I cant find it if there is one and I have no manual. Thanks

 

Make sure no one put tape or something over it to hide a service engine light. Very common with shady sellers (not accusing your seller of this, but that is where I would start).

 

Already checked to make sure it was not covered by anything and it was not. Is there a fuse that goes to it or something else I should check?

 

I would pull the cluster and inspect the circuit board going to the display. If you have anyone with a 99-2002 truck you can also swap the clusters to see if it works with a different one.

 

the message center is fused together with the odometer display , to disable the message center you will have to pull the cluster and pop off the back cover , remove the pc board and either remove the light or unplug the small ribbon cord that connects to the pc board
