Smile Milliage left on a 6.0 V8?

Thinking about buying an RV that has 135000 miles on a 6.0 V8 engine. Service was good on the rig. RV is not a really big one, probably about 12,000 lbs or so.
What do you think? How many more miles could I expect from this engine and tranny?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I have personally had 6.0 2500 truck with 250,000 miles on the original motor and still running strong. The worst thing about it was the rear main would leak about 1/2 a quart between changes. I can't say for certain if the trans was original - I bought the truck with 150,000 and the previous owner never said anything about having it done and it was still shifting great when I got rid of it. Go for it!

But was your truck carrying 10,000 to 12 thousand pounds the whole time?

I can't say that, but I still think you will be fine if it's running and shifting well now, all fluids look good and don't smell burnt. If your nervous though find a lower mileage one. The way I look at it is you can either spend a lot more money right now and buy a super low mileage truck, or buy a good running higher mileage truck that passes all the tests and save. Sure things will go wrong eventually, but coming from a guy that has been through a bunch of trucks - I always buy trucks that have 120,000 - 150,000 for myself and have had really good luck. I have had two transmisson's go out on me and both were 4L60's - one was my wife's Tahoe with 70,000 miles and the other was a 1500 work truck which I knew better than to buy a 1500 with the 4l60-E. They are OK transmissions if you don't tow anything. All my towing vehicles now are 2500 or better with 4l80's in them. Good luck!
