Its all about gear ratios + weight of truck + cubic inches = mpg. I think popo might have lower numbers because of the gear ratio, or the fact that the smaller engine has to work harder.

I know that hilly areas and elevation play a big role in it too, no to mention your driving style. I drive like a Grandma to and from work, but on the highway I float.

I used your formula and it didnt quite add up for me I think its flawed.
3.42 gears+ 4000lbs + 350 cubic in.= 4353.42mpg
I know I dont get that many miles per gallon!!! HAHAHAHA

Seriously tho I get about 15.5 in my 94 350 I will be doing a general clean up and installing a TBS here as soon as the weather gets decent here. 9' of snow this morning made for a great commute.

Everyones a Comedian, lol. TBI engines will never get good overall gas mileage, but you can up the highway mileage with a chip from TBIchips.com. I had one in my 91' and it would hold 4th gear on the highway with a 305 and 35" tires. But I still got 14mpg city. You might get about 16 to 16.5 on the highway with a chip if you get 15.5 now.

hey POPO, when I got to where I was going, I put 11 gallons of gas in.I divided the 220 miles I drove by the 11 something gallons of gas.I dont know if that would mess up my calculations but if I am right im very happy .
