MPG'S

RE: MPG'S
This is very odd as I just purchased a new 2007 1500 Reg Cab 4X4 short bed and can't seem to get better than 12.8 mpg. I've gone through two tanks of fuel and could not drive it any smoother or slower. I really thought that I would get at least 17mpg as my '03 2500 HD was averaging 14mpg with a 6.0L and I drove it pretty hard. This truck has 3:73 gears and the HD had 4:10's. The window sticker stated 16/20mpg for the 5.3 multi displacement motor. Love the truck but can't believehow horrible the mileage is. To think I did'nt even go near the Dodge's because I thought their mileage ratings were misleading.

If that's truely the case, I'd take it to the dealership to have them once it over. You've gotta fresh warranty. Just tell the service advisor what kinda gas mileage your getting and they'll know something is wrong. Shoot my 03 Sierra has the 4.8 and I still get 14-15mpg when driving it like a maniac. Mine averages about 16-17 if I'm REALLY trying to conserve it.

The new trucks need to break in. Your going to get progressively better gas mileage as the engine breaks in and you'll notice smoother idle and quicker response too. I can't remember how many miles it takes. Argon will know.

RE: MPG'S
I get about 13-16 (town-highway) on a good day with my '04 1500. The only engine mod I've made is descreening the MAF. Haven't put a K&N drop-in yet, but I can't see it making that much of a difference. Didn't damage the MAF, not sure why the mileage is so crappy.

my truck's milage blows! i figure for 26 gal tank i got 450 out of it driving missy daisy on the highway. it comes out to 17 mpg. i figured a v6 would be way better but with a heavy foot and heavy truck, what do you expect?
ACR- does your name by chance mean Alachua County Resident? if not and for the rest. it's a gainesville thing the lifers call themselves.
