Need Differential Advice
Hey Guys...
New to the forum and new to my 1993 Chevy Silverado. I have a differential that needs replacement. The sticker in the glove box that has the codes is indecipherable. However, I was able to determine that my diff is a 10 bolt GT4 with 3:73 gear ratio.
Is there anything else needed to begin the search for a rebuild or swap? What are the pros and cons on a differential swap if I can find a replacement...besides the obvious warranty/new gear issues? I am not a mechanic...so forgive what may be an ill informed question but I just do not know about rear ends and how often they may go out.
What could I expect to pay for the work and either a rebuild or swap? Is it better to take my truck to a rear end specialist and have them rebuild my own set-up?
Lastly, are there any other sources for replacement of the Service Parts ID label to get the RPO numbers for my truck.
Thanks
