Need A Reputable Transmission Shop in SE VA
Hi all,
The 4L60E in my truck decided to lose 3rd (and possibly) OD on the way to an auction this morning, and due to it's age, I'd think a rebuild would be more cost effective than a new/reman one.
Can anyone recommend a shop they have personally used / heard good things from in the Williamsburg/Hampton/Newport News/VA Beach, etc area?
If I'm going the rebuilt option, I want it done right, not by some crappy chain that will build it so it breaks again right out of warranty, or requires 4 R&R's to "make it right".
I baby the truck as it is, so all I need is a stock rebuild. Any idea what this may run me?
Here is where the trans is currently at:
It makes a rattling sound when stopped and accelerating until 2nd gear, but it will not rattle if you start in 1 and shift to OD at 10MPH or so.
The 1-2 upshift is fine, as is reverse. When shifting into 3rd (around 30MPH) , it will drop back into 1st, and really rev up the engine. If I completely let off the throttle, or give it a bit of gas from 20-30 and let off, it will shift into 3rd. Whether it shifts in OD or not I can't tell. Seems to around 50, but it "feels" like the revs are higher than normal.
It will downshift 4-3-2-1 with no issues.
Truck has 129K, transmission has 30K (Jasper reman, out of warranty)
