Nelson tune vs programmer

RE: Nelson tune vs programmer
Hi there are pros and cons to a custom or using a predator or any of the other handhelds. The customs con is that if there is a prob or you go in for service the PCM or the truck will have to go back to have the stock tune put back in it. If you went the handheld route you could put back to stock in 5 minutes. The only way I see the custom being beneficial if if you had two PCM's one that tuned and one that stock that way you just plug and unplug. My thought anyway

Well if you take the truck in for servicing at a GM dealership, yeah I would unload the custom tune from the PCM.
Pittsburgh has the most strict emissions laws (second to California) and they plug into your OBD2 port and scan the PCM for emissions testing. I had my tune on my truck last time I went for an emissions test and it passed with flying colors. So I don't thing the tunes are an issue unless there is an engine light on.
However, I am greatful for the Predator because lastnight the temp dropped pretty low and I was out running errands. Well the truck was shifting like ****, I think due to the Torque Management being down to 25% or so, and the fact that I was making short trips, therefore not allowing the transmission to warm up all the way. Well anyway I was able to turn the Torque Management back to 100% which in turn made the truck shift much better. It took me all of 10 minutes to reset the Predator, reload the custom tune and turn the Torque Management back on in the mall parking lot.
