New job, big plans

New job, big plans
I started my new job today and depending on how long I feel like staying in Washington is going to depend if the changes to my truck will alot or a friggen **** ton And this is extra money so I'll be saving too.
I figure in the least I'm going to get my engine tuned and serviced, lowered 20's switched out for 18's, the T-56, beefed up rear end. New sound system too since somehow most of my right speakers are blown. Will also get it throughly inspected since it seems my baby almost hit every branch on the factory defect key. I learned the hard way that one deceft is real dangerous, getting ran over and pinned sucks!
There is a great performance shop nearby that will have a major hand in it. I really can't do it myself do to working hours and apartments really aren't cool with the whole mechanic shop in the parking lot deal. Also thanks to the military my memory is getting screwy so I don't need to be doing anything important incase I don't tourqe it enough etc....
What I really need help with is idea's from other Silverado/Siera drivers would do or if the way the shop is wanting to is best. I mean hey they're getting paid so they may want a "diffrent route" as I would. And hey getting paid is getting paid, but money's money also. So I'm all open to idea's from people on what to do except lifts and engine swap. Please help out in the fun also sorry this post was so long.

RE: New job, big plans
From your previous posts I am surprised you want a larger diameter wheel. You;ll get less traction at launches.
Something I have been thumbing around is the extra gear box. Summit sells them. They are supposed to split each gear into 2 to keep the motor in the powerband after shifts. With a five speed you would have 10 "gears" and never drop below 3500 when you are racing.
You can also get them here:

Gonna do some more reading up on that system cracker sounds pretty interesting. It does make me wonder how much more it will make my truck weigh. My trucks light weight, for a truck atleast is a major asset.

Why not upgrade the fuel system and get a local speed shop to dyno tune it to perfection? Upgrade the fuel pump with something much better that will last a good long time, upgrade to beefier injectors, fuels rails, etc. If you do that stuff and get it dyno tuned it'll probably be a monster!

That is one route I was looking to do in the engine. At the most extreme I want to pull the block out get it pro built I did find out it's possible to get over 700hp with either a blower or turbo. At the most I want the fastiest street legal 4.8. Blood enterprises, they also have a web site is the dyno shop shop. I'll definatley go that route with the fuel system, I belive mine is messed up so I might as well get the "correct" system

Ive seen a few guys buy complete LS1 long blocks then swap over all their 4.8 stuff that was needed to finish, get bigger injectors, then get the ecu retuned by a proffesional so it will be 5.7L specs. I think the only problem is swapping over your old accessories which I dunno where to go on that one lol.

That sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Besides the 4.8 is more of a beast than people give credit for! I put away quite a few people with mine. Heck I run faster than any other NBS chevy/gmc I've seen out at the 1/8mile.

Yup nothing like the tires smoking and at 5k in second and doing it for a bit in third. 3 guys at my new job got rustang gt's 2000-2001, for some reason they seem to think that since they have a 4.6 and I have a 4.8 they win because I'm in a truck. Can't wait to get my front end fixed, they're screwed after that I may be too since all 3 could potentially be my boss until I get my own truck But the 4.8 staying in the truck is a must, on the extreme it's getting pulled and built to handle SC or Turbo, if not the fuel system will be the big engine mod, probably a cam too. Gotta do some more reading up on gear vendors, thanks for the idea's guys
