New to my '94 and need some help

So over the passed two days I did all the prep work to get the engine out of the suburban. I'm starting to get a bit worried as the ECM is obviously programmed to be in a 3/4ton suburban and not in a 1/2 ton Sierra. Anyway I've gone ahead and removed the engine, and have it setting on a sheet of playwood in the driveway right now. I'm still in searching for the transmission, but deciding what I should do with the engine. I've determined it to be built in 1987, and plan to replace the valve cover gaskets at least. Water pump gaskets as well, and a thorough cleaning, but I can't decide if I should rip the entire engine apart and fully clean it up.
I'm also thinking about replacing the timing chain cover and valve covers with a nicer set, or ripping the ones off I have and refinishing them with a nice paint job. I'd like to paint the block, but if I don't take the engine apart I'm not sure how well that will work.

Been a very long time since I've posted anything on this forum. It was an incredibly long winter with far more snow than I would have ever liked to see. I dropped the 350 into the sierra to store it in there under the hood over the winter. Today I was thinking real serious about putting the whole truck up on craigslist and selling her. The ECM/Wiring Harness from the 1988 suburban is giving me more headache than I care to discuss. I'm thinkin it may be beneficial to find a torque converter and ECM from a 94 of like model to put into mine.
I'm not sure what purpose this post has other than to let you guys know I'm still here thinkin hard about this truck. If anyone has any wiring diagrams for a 1994 ECM that would be amazing, I've done quite a few searches online but came up with only 1995 4.3/7.4 diagrams.
Well take care all, Tomorrow is Easter and my day is spent trying to work on this thing! So happy easter to all!

in regards to your comment that 94 silverados are hard to find
i live in iowa and there are plenty of them around here in the junkyards
also body parts wise the years 88-98 will fit also the grill style changes in 94 instead of haveing the full chrome around the grill where the parking lights and amber colord lights are it wont have that on a 94 unless you want it to
also like i say in iowa we have alot of them trucks in junkyards its sad casue that year of truck was what i think is the best year of trucks as i own a 94 chevy 4x4 ext cab 4wd and my brother owns a 94 gmc sierra 4wd ext cab z 71 with tow package sle model
so if you need any info let me know i can look at my truck and his fro references for you as both are complete and daily drivers thanks
keep us posted on the rebuild
