NO CATS on new trucks

Default NO CATS on new trucks

i have a 1999 silverado with a 4.8 i have straights on it now it is loader than about anything around here i was wonderin if i could take the cats off i want 2 put mufflers on it. all of the muffler shops around her have told me that u cannot that it would mess the computer up and i would ahve to but a new one? if they did it

Hey, I replyed to your message and all 99-02 trucks are the same, so you should have no problems

if you just take off the cats you will need a bypass for the sensor on the cats. if it reads wrong then you might get a funky ride. its not legal to do this in CA but if you know someone at a shop they can do it.

Your truck has 4 oxygen sensors, two on each side. One is before the cat, one is after the cat. The one before the cat senses how rich/lean your engine is running. The one after the cat senses how the cats are working. The sensors before the cats are the important ones. If you send your cats to live with God, the rear sensors will pop a code. This code can be eliminated by O2 sesnsor simulators. They are sold by Summit Racing and maybe Jeg's. Or, you can get a custom tune and they will eliminate this problem for you. PCMforless.com
