Plans for the baby....
Ok, so the Predator is coming in the mail. Now Im trying to plan what I should/need to do next rather than what I want to addd to it to play. I need $400 for tires. Im looking at getting new treads for the 17" I have cause they just look 100 times better than the 16" factory jobs. I also need to touch up and prepaint a few things. My paint is chipping from around the cab corners and rear-most bed sides. I was thinking I would get the chip guard stuff for it. (That spray in bed liner stuff, but used on the sides to protect your rockers and so on from rocks and stuff). Then get her buffed out and maybe do silver racing stripes. How much do you think it would cost to sand the cab sides and bed up to about 5-6" shy of the trim and repaint it? (I'm thinking silver).

Sounds like it would be easier to buy a different truck. I have seen a lot of people around here rhino-line the bottom 10"s of their truck. Course that's usually the hardcore off roaders. If your usually driving it around town everyone's gonna think your a redneck before they even see you get out.

72 - You say that like it's a bad thing.
JC - Check with you local paint shop. Places like Maaco will use a single coat of enamel to keep cost down. You can save even more with some 180 grit and a palm sander. If a one step process costs more than $200 they need to justify it first.

Cracker - thanks for the input. If I can "borrow" my step-dads barn for a day or two , I'll do it myself. Otherwise I'll look into a shop. (Barn used to be a body shop, now its for refinishing antiques, blah!) I don't plan on making it look bad. I was going to do silver so it looked kinda two-tone from a distance.
72Charger - You have to understand that up here, the only way to prevent rust is a garage and/or not driving it in the snow. Anything driven in the snow will never make 6-7 years without rust. Even with undercoating you get it. They use salt like crazy on the roads cause no one can drive in the damn snow! (pisses me off)

Yeah I never think about that. (I'm in Florida) Well in that case rhinoline the heck out of it and then put some of those tank/snow tracks! I saw some of those in a book for our trucks yesterday. Those are AWESOME! All you'd need is a roof hatch anda .50 cal machine gun mounted in the bed!
