Plugs and wires

Plugs and wires
Well, I'm about to hit 100k in my 01 so it's time to replace plugs and wires. If I remember correctly, the stock plugs are iridium...do/should i replace then with iridium again, or will platinum work? Is there a prefered brand of good (not just name or fancy gimmick) iridium plugs?
Will also be replacing wires at the same time. I noticed that summit carries 8 mm Crane Firewire that are rated at a low 25 ohm resistance and are only $45 a set. Anyone try these?
FWIW, a mecahnic buddy said the best combination for these trucks is to stick with the acdelco iridium plugs that came from the factory and NAPA Beldin 7mm wires.

RE: Plugs and wires
ACDelco or NGK brand iridiums will work just fine and are both relatively inexpensive (for what they are).
Never tried the wires you mentioned. Stick with Borg Warner, ACDelco, ACCEL something like that, don't use "off brand" wires (or plugs). You don't need expensive wires but 8MM over 7MM isn't a bad idea.

RE: Plugs and wires
8mm is the way to go, i had some 8.8 accel wires on my old toyota and loved them. I'm not sure if they make them for these trucks or not. I put double platinum's in my 02 6.0 and haven't had any problems yet. I hope you don't have any problems getting those old plugs out 100k is a long time to have a plug in an aluminum head. make sure you use anti seize on the new plugs. oh I'm not sure what motor you have but i found the best way to get the back one on the right side out of my 6.0 is to use a normal plug socket and a 1in extension, worked great.
