I have Urban Audio speakers in all 4 doors of my truck with the stock radio and no amp. Pretty happy with the speakers.

Bose is overrated, all marketing, I have never been impressed by anything made by Bose. especially the $500 piece of crap wave system they have, I have a $40.00 Logitech Ipod dock sounds amazing. I am somewhat of an audiophile so any vehicle I own will have an upgraded stereo, if my next truck is equipped with Bose it will be replaced ASAP.
currently I am running MB Quart separates in my doors powered by Rockford Fosgate, the new 2011 GMC's equipped with Bose doesn't even come close I have heard myself and my systems is 10 years old, anyway, those Pioneers Mr shamrock got look great and will sound great over stock speakers, also Crutchfield has some good deals and send all the wiring adapters and step by step instructions free most of the time.

what kind of sound are you after? do you want clear bass or do you like the high treble? i have an 05 silverado and it was factory when i got it, non bose. i installed pioneer speakers because i had always used them, personally they didnt have enough bass to them. i pulled those out and went to a local auto salvage yard. i went and scavenged some factory gm bose out of wrecked trucks. it only cost me 10 bucks a speaker and i also ditched the 6 by 4's in the back doors and put in 4" bose out of a crew cab in, only had to slightly modify the door panel to fit. plus as long as you get the speakers from trucks no newer than 07 classic body all of the mounting and electrical connections are the same, it just plug and play it doesnt get any easier
