Default problem: 3rd brake/interior lighting

Hey guys,
I need help or direction here if someones willing to give. I have a 02 silverado 1500 and my interior dome light and 3rd brake light are out. I've checked the bulbs and basic fuses from what I could see all were good.

I bought the truck with odometer fraud, so anythings possible as to why they might be out.

I just bought a voltmeter, but not sure how to use it yet. Can anyone give me advice on what to check/search that can cause the dome/ 3rd brake light to be out. The interior floor, dash lights work. The brake and turn signals all work.

Thanks in advance.

No, I haven't yet, but I do have a test light somewhere. I'm pretty electrical illiterate. How do you test fuses with the test light? can you squeeze the metal between the fuse and the contact or, pull the fuse.

I have a cargo light override switchby the headlight switches. I can push that and it will say "cargo light on" push it and it will go back off. My cargo lightdoes not work either.

Default Solved

Just an update for any of those interested. I've gotten the issue resolved after taking it to my area mechanic. I checked the bulbs, then went thru with a multimeter and tried testing the fuses.

Finally I decided that my skill level was to low to continue fiddling and took it over to Bensons.

Turns out that some wires behind the dashboard got cut somehow (before I bought it) which caused all of the problems.

I appreciate all the input and am happy I got it all working.

Thanks,
Brad
