Default problem with radio

On my 96 silverado, when ever i turn the truck on the clock resets itself to one o'clock, i then put a new head unit in and it would reset everything like the clock and the presets and all the settings i had. I now no its not the head unit, i didnt really expect it to be but any ideas of why its reseting itself? Any help would be useful this small problem gets annoying

check the wire that is the "keep alive" or memory wire....sounds like the wire has come undone or there is a fuse problem.
