Default Project Truck

I just bought this 98 1500 shortbox for $1800 it was tipped on its side and damaged everything on the drivers side. just thought I would post some pics and see what you guys think. I think I got a steal. I already bought the parts to make it driveable again and they only cost me $200. the frame is fine and the rest is all cosmetic damage. anyways I would like to hear other people's input

Looks like a nice truck for $1,800 (except for the body damage). It looks like the damage is pretty extensive to the whole left side. All the panels can be replaced (fender, door, box side, and tail gate) but the cab damage could take alot of work to repair and get straight. You might be able to just repair the door without replacing it. With the cab, your going to have to take out the rear seat and all the interior panels, etc. to push/pound out the damaged area out as much as you can. The back part of the cab looks bad and is going to be the toughest area to get right. After that it's going to be doing some body work/filler and lots of sanding.

The tailgate, $74.95, the door shell $149.95, the bed side $399.95, and the front fender $69.95 can all be found at C/K Resto:

If you can do most all of this work yourself it won't be too bad, but to have a body shop do it all can run into some bucks.

Good luck.

yea I am doing it all myself. a friend of mine works at a body shop so he's gonna help out quite a bit. If I had to pay a shop to fix her it wouldn't be worth it. It was my friends truck, I am not a big fan of the 8 inches of lift but for $1800 I can't complain too much. Thanks I'll need all the help I can get.

Looks good to me for $1800, I would not worry too much about the cab or the lift. Now you have an off-road ready truck that you do not have to worry about bringing down the tight trails
