Default replacement shocks

I've got a 2000 Silverado 1500 5.3L pickup with 215,000 miles on it and its time for a tire change. Before I change tires, I need to replace the stock shocks. I've been looking on summit at my choices and I'm not too sure what I want to get.

I'm thinking about going with the Rancho RSX17068. There decently priced and the summit catalog claims that they give both good handling and good ride quality. Has anyone used these shocks? I have heard a few bad things about rancho shocks but this was mostly from dumbasses who didn't know what they were talking about.

My next option would probably be shelling out $20 more per shock for the edelbrock performer IAS. Would the $80 extra bucks be worth it?

I have those shocks on my truck and i like them, they dont seem like anything over the top kind of nice but they are good quality and do work better then stock.

i completely agree. its not a great idea to force a shock off when it has a load on it. all you need to do is jack the truck up until the shock has no weight on it. should come out pretty easily.

I haven't heard many bad things about rancho. The problem is that a lot of people are biased: they have only used one brand of shock and they think they're the best. I do a little off road stuff with my truck and a person just said that rancho shocks couldn't handle rough terrain very well.
