Default Royal Purple FTW!

I just did an oil change from Mobile 1 5W30 with a Mobile 1 oil filter to Royal Purple 5w30 with a K&N oil filter. I probably didn't gain a single shred of power but I went and floored it from a 5mph roll on the highway and was pretty darn impressed. I would swear up and down I gained power but again, I'm only 22 and I'm probably wrong. Could even be that I did gain power but only because it was just time to change the engine oil. Iguess I'm pretty rough on oil. I only go 4,000 miles on my oil changes and that Mobile 1 fully synthetic is solid black right now. Ofcourse it does get a lot hotter here in Florida so I guess that oil does get cooked.

Definately recommending the good stuff to you guys though!

How much more is Royal Purple per quart than Mobil 1?

5w-30 is thinner than 10w-30, so 5w-30 is good for freezing temps up to 90 degrees. 10w-30 is more for 90 + outside temps and heavy duty applications. (Look in the owners manual it tells you what temps to run which type of oil, I might be off a little). Honestly I would use 5w-30 all the tiem (especially if you don't haul much and use synthetic), then use 10w-30 when the engine is at 150K or more.

I am not convinced of the Royal Purple deal myself. I have only met 2 poeple who swear by the stuff.
I have even watched it on the Trucks program on the old television were the main guy took a 4x4 truck and dynoed it. Then they drained all the fluids: oil, transmission, transfercase, rear end, etc...
My point is when they redynoed the truck it did show an increase in power, BUT ... and I say BUT again.
Was that truck due for an oil change? And with fresh oil in every moving component as mentioned earlier in this reply... Wouldn't it make more power regardless?
Somtimes I just wonder....

It has to be the same deal as the PRO_LONG stuff. Remeber that? Infomercials out the *** about it like 5 years ago. Same theory, more power and MPG with PRO-LONG, if you don't mind $30 extra bucks to tack on when you change your oil.

Just change your oil and filter with 5/30 when the change oil light comes on.
you Guys are over thinking Stuff. motors and oil have come a long way.
But use the same Oil, Castrol /Penzoil etc.

I think with royal purple, you have to change all of your fluids to it to see a true difference but i also think that the TRUCKS demonstration had a little to do with just changing the fluids in general and a little with the quality of the RP.

i agree that some of the benifit was from just the change in general and that it was a manual but it did show that Royal Purple lowered tempuratures in the transmission and the differentials. so that is a good bonus. im thinking of doing it when i get some extra cash. got to pay off the neslon tune right now.

I think a normal oil change will lower the temperature too in the transmission and differential... especailly a fresh oil change with know miles on it.
