I am going to put new shocks on my 1998 k1500 this summer. I would like a little stiffer ride then stock, but I am also going to crank the torsion bars when I do the shocks. Which is a good brand of shocks to buy?

 

i just bought a set of monroe reflexs theyre really stiff yet comfortable and handle really well in turns.

 

You can NEVER go wrong with Bilstein's,they make the factory Z71 shocks(orange/red) albeit to GM specs. The off the shelf units from a Bilstein dealer are a little firmer than the stock Z71 units also. Their build quality is second to NONE(IMHO),although they aren't cheap, but if you shop around you can probably find a decent deal. My buddy got a set of 4 to replace his original shocks on his Z71(about 8 months ago,120K on originals and only one was leaking and all others still rode fine) from Sears on a buy 3 get 1 free deal or something like that and they installed them(I know cringe and worry) free also.

 

I also bought a set of monroe reflexs a few months back for my 05. They were the closest to stock that i could find at the parts store. So far they ride and handle very well.

 

Rancho makes several that are adjustable to the ride you want. I have had the non adjustable and they rode well, as you would expect a truck too.
