If you are near a good dyno shop you can sit down and have it tuned the way you want.

Most of the guys on here who have used the Hypertechs tend to not like them very much. Apparantly as far as programmers go they produce the least gains. Several guys on here have gone with the Diablo Predator and said it produced real decent gains. The majority of the gusy on here, however, agree that the best route to go is with an actual custom tune by either a local dynotune shop or by a company such as www.gowheatley.com or Nelson Performance(I think that's right).

Sorry, I know this probably isn't what you wanted to here but thought I would help you to not waste too much of your time trying to make your Hypertech do something it won't. The most important thing is that it will not remove the torque management at all which means your gains can only be minimul at best. Congratulations on your new purchase though!

i have the max energy programmer and on 06 z71: this is my current setup:
rev limiter: 6100rpm(up from 5900)
1-2shift: +200Rpm (shifted around 5600-5700 before the +200)
2-3shift: +200Rpm
3-4shift: +100rpm
shift firmness 50%
87 octane tune
speed limiter: 255mph (like it will really do that)

i am not impressed with the max energy power compared to the power programmer 3 i had but it is ok. i did get about 1.5mpg more with the max energy compared to only .5mpg with pp3. the torque management is a pain in the *** and an email from tech support said that hypertech will not be adjusting TM at all. i mainly wanted decent gains on 87 octane with no threat of damage to my engine and get better gas mileage.
hope this helps.

also you could try i set of underdrive pulleys from asp racing: comes with an overdrive altenator to keep the truck charged at idle.

Hypertech:

Pros: One of the safest programmers to use, easy to program, tune for alternate fuels (E85 if available), good balance of power and torque gains.

Cons: Very limited in what you can modify. DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH COLD AIR INTAKES, AFTERMARKET MAF SENSORS, AND THROTTLE BODY SPACERS (I actually talked to their tech support and they told me that Hypertech was primarily for bone stock trucks and those trucks with exhaust and high flow air filter ONLY), Can not "fine tune" any parameters (engine or transmission), can not remove Torque Management, can not log engine data.

Predator vs. Custom Tune
