Silverado Steering Weak Link
Today (Nov 20/2012) I finally ordered my Heavy Duty Tie Rod Ends for my 2008 Silverado 2500HD Duramax. I'm looking forward to them getting hear.
I found them in an episode of Extreme 4X4 on Ian's Chase Truck build.

holy crap those are beefy lookin! Honestly though, why spend the extra money? I align fedex G3500 trucks that use the same inner and outer tie rods and they're just fine. They never bend unless that wheel has been rammed into a curb or hit or something. I've never even seen this style of tie rod bent before, I've seen loads of astro vans get their tie rods bent though ...
I'm just curios why these would be worth the money when the OEM ones seem to never be a problem.

How much did those run you?
And Nullhead, trust me, if you have a girlfriend or wife, you will want those. Ive used my trucks hard off road, and never broke anything, let my mom borrow it, and she brings it back with a broken rim, bent tierod, and a busted ball joint, and still claims she never hit anything.

Here is a link to the place that I ordered them from.
01-10 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Fabtech HD Tie Rods
A friend of mine broke his way back in the bush.
I know the tie rod ends are Chevy's weakest link and it's always waying on my mind when I'm driving.
I just had them checked, they are slightly worn. So it's time to replace them.
These will definitely bring me piece of mind.
Here are some examples of them failing

No not 235.00 $255 to my door. including the extended 12" sway bar end links.
I'll by the Best, Heavy Duty, anything for my truck cause I think it's worth it.
Not that I think the $50 one are bad... I would just have more piece of mind driving with my grandson in my truck with the $235 set.

Usually I try to get the best OEM style parts. Moog, napa chassis parts etc.
I never really realized that the 4x4 towing on these style trucks is what really torques on those tie rods ... I was thinking about 2wd applications. I guess that's just bad suspension geometry, cause I really don't think that the tie rods should be taking that much stress when the truck is in 4x4 under massive load. Interesting though, these things look pretty heavy duty, that's for sure!
