Silverado vs. Tundra

Silverado vs. Tundra
Okay Silverado Fans I thought you might find this interesting...
During a recent training broadcast, our product trainers did a nice job explaining the Tundra ads. I would guess all of you have seen the ad where the Tundra pulls a trailer up a steep grade (a 'see-saw'), and then barrels down hill and locks the brakes up just before the end of the ramp. Seen it? Yeah you have.
Couple things to keep in mind. The voice over at the beginning of the spot says...."It's tough pushing 10,000 lbs up a steep grade". Myth: Toyota would like the audience to believe the trailer is 10,000 lbs. Fact: It's a 5,000 lb truck pulling a 5,000 lb trailer. A little slight of hand? You bet.
Then, on the way down the grade, the camera zooms in on the brakes as the vehicles comes to a screeching halt just prior to the end of ramp. Next time you see the ad....look for the 'mice type'. It indicates the trailer is equipped with electric brakes. Fact....the electric brakes stop the trailer -- not the truck. A little slight of hand? You bet.
And why does Toyota have bigger brake pads? They need them....their truck is heavier. Stopping distance between our truck and theirs is virtually identical. And why does Toyota have a 6 speed transmission? To improve their fuel economy....which is still 2 mpg less than the Silverado.
And don't forget....their big V8 has one axle ratio -- a 4.3. Suck fuel much? The Silverado offers several axle options to optimize towing and fuel economy. Bottom line:THE SILVERADOIS BETTER! Spread the word.......we can all make a difference.
This is our country, this is our truck! The 2007 North American Truck of the year - Chevrolet Silverado!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Silverado vs. Tundra
I realize that Chevrolet has foreign made parts and is assembled in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. But I'll buy American brands over foreign brands. I know, I know, toyota is assembled in San Antonio, Tx. But the profits still go to Japan.I'm not going to buy any foreign brands period.
I would rather push and AMERICAN car than ride in a foreign make.
Patriotic attitude for sure. I don't want an american company to go under because I spent my money on a foreign brand and it wound up overseas.

That is the misnomer with American cars and trucks very few parts like typically less than 15% is made out of the US. More is done in Mexico than Japan, India or China.
The key is Chevy trucks support thousands of US retirees and several other industries like marketing and financial companies as well.
If the US auto market died the US would hurt more than people think.

toyotas in trouble already!, no increase in sales, actually lowered their forecats, 1500 rebates to try and move a few. People make too much of where these are assembled. I'm from Canada, to me these are American trucks! North American.
A friend of mine owns a toyota store and recently went on an all paiddealer trip to guess where? Japan!! It's because that's where all the profits go!!
I wish we were allowed to sell our vehicles in Japan. Are they afraid of us??
50% of ALL toyotas sold are made in Japan.
They are probably a decent product, however I feel I can buy a better truck (GMC) and keep our R&D, production workers, pensions, and PROFITS here in America!

Bowtie, I think you are in the wrong forum to be so negative against GM products. It's real simple; if you have such a problem with Chevrolets, don't buy one! Also, you should change your name "Bowtie" and utilize a more appropriate name to display your affection for foriegn trucks. I was trying to be nice at first, but now you are judging all Chevrolets based on your series of unfortunate events and it is starting to **** me off! Go buy yourself a Toyota and be happy, but do us all a favor and stop talking **** about Chevy's! Have a nice day!

RE: Silverado vs. Tundra
unfortunately BOWTIE....you are stupid enough to get your pocket picked by GM if that really happened....i have seen problems near and fro..happen to most types of chevy..and i know ARGON has to. so im backing this **** up right here. get the hell outr of this forum ...if you like gm great tell us ..if you're having problems..damn maybe some of us can help you out...now from my opinion you were stupid enough to get screwed by some low beat place for the work on your truck and whatever problems you may have had. I know chevy's i just had MAJOR work done on mine...cost was umm $0.00. so go buy a new truck be happy and be gone.

RE: Silverado vs. Tundra
The other thing to consider is price. The toyota starts over 22k for a 2wdreg cabwt. WTF!!!!!!. I can buy a new style 07 4wd reg cab wt for less than that without rebates.
I am sorry bowtie that you had issues with your truck, but it sounds likethedealership saw you coming, notGM.
But getting negative about it on a silverado forum is not the answer.

RE: Silverado vs. Tundra
Since when is it stupid to believe GM Cust Svc and the Chevy dealer when they say they are gonna take care of half the problem? They charged me $800 bucks and their was no other half then they did a half *** job.
That "git the hell outr here" stuff might work where your from but this is a F O R U M - that is a place where people speak their mind and I'm doing it. Put me on ignore if it bothers you
